Chinese share prices closed down 3.29 percent Friday as investors tracked losses on Wall Street overnight while fears emerged of a liquidity crunch after an upcoming initial public offering, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was down 74.97 points at 2,202.45 on turnover of 28.0 billion yuan (4.1 billion dollars).
The Shanghai A-share index shed 78.75 points, or 3.29 percent, to close at 2,311.63 on turnover of 27.8 billion yuan, while the Shenzhen A-share index fell 24.84 points, or 3.76 percent, to 636.67 on turnover of 13.3 billion yuan.
