The Chinese government is trying to improve statistics on housing price and a draft of the statistics reform will be published before Oct 1.

Ma Jiantang, head of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), said Wednesday a series of reforms should improve the accuracy and credibility of China's official statistics. He was at a media-training seminar held in Shunyi district on the outskirts of Beijing.

He said the statistics reform was scheduled to take effect next year, while the old method would still be used for reference.
