Wall Street opened lower on Tuesday as the dollar strengthened and after an official Chinese newspaper confirmed that nation's central bank increased its reserve ratio for six banks.
The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) was down 35.95 points, or 0.33 percent, at 10,974.39. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (.SPX) was down 4.86 points, or 0.42 percent, at 1,160.46. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) was down 6.12 points, or 0.25 percent, at 2,396.21.
