Wall Street rises 1 percent on Fed bets, China

The three major U.S. stock indexes gained 1 percent on Wednesday on rising expectations the Federal Reserve will move to prop up the economic recovery, while industrial stocks were boosted by upbeat economic data from China.

The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) gained 118.07 points, or 1.07 percent, to 11,138.47. The Standard & Poor's 500 (.SPX) rose 11.67 points, or 1.00 percent, to 1,181.44. The Nasdaq Composite (.IXIC) added 26.55 points, or 1.10 percent, to 2,444.47.
