Wall St extends losses, Dow falls 1 pct

NEW YORK – Stocks fell on Wednesday, with the Dow industrials dropping about 1 percent, as investors reined in expectations of how aggressive the U.S. Federal Reserve may be in its efforts to stimulate the economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) was down 104.48 points, or 0.94 percent, at 11,064.98. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (.SPX) was down 9.72 points, or 0.82 percent, at 1,175.92. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) was down 7.79 points, or 0.31 percent, at 2,489.50.
