SYDNEY, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Australian accommodation industry is looking forward to working with the Federal Government, including Tourism Australia, to maximise benefits from projects funded by the Asia Marketing Fund.

The four projects to be undertaken in the first year of the fund, which were announced in the weekend, have the potential to translate to higher numbers of visitor nights and propel Australia one step closer to the objectives outlined in the 2020 Tourism Industry Potential.

"Our industry is excited about the strong tourism growth which is predicted from key Asian markets, such as China," said the Chief Executive Officer of the Accommodation Association of Australia, Richard Munro.

"The strategy of reaching out to emerging cities in China through one of the Asia Marketing Fund projects which has been announced is very positive.

"As is the focus on Japan as part of one of the other projects - - Japan has always been an important visitor market for Australia, " He said.

"The accommodation industry is also pleased about the investment in research because it's critical that we continue to improve the knowledge base within our industry about the most effective ways to engage with Asian visitors."

"Our industry stands ready to work with the Federal Government through Tourism Australia on these important initiatives," he added.
