Nikkei opened slightly higher on Monday in Tokyo early morning trades as the optimistic economy data from the U.S. lifted investors' confidence.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 45.16 points, or 0.47 percent, at 9,572.55.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 3.47 points, or 0.44 percent, at 793. 71.
