BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.21 percent, at 3,525.6 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.23 percent higher at 14,472.37 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 891.9 billion yuan (about 138.7 billion U.S. dollars), down from 932.2 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares related to medical equipment and real estate led the gains, while shares related to cement and finance saw losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.01 percent to close at 3,188.59 points. Enditem
