BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.12 percent at 3,568.14 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.46 percent lower at 14,350.02 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1 trillion yuan (about 155.5 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 989 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to coal and green electricity led the gains, while liquor producers suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, closed flat at 3,276.48 points. Enditem
