The new institute aims to combine research with education, nurture agricultural talents and promote the transformation of scientific achievements to better serve the country's rural vitalization strategy, CAAS president Tang Huajun said at the launch ceremony.

The new institute has formed a teaching team of 16 researchers and eight teaching and research groups, which cover the fields of industrial development, ecology, rural culture, rural governance, and village planning.

Around 2,000 post-graduate students have studied the pilot curriculum in China -- Theory and Practice of Rural Vitalization, and more than 3,000 officials and technicians have taken part in training courses organized by the institute in rural areas of Henan, Shanxi and Fujian provinces.

The institute will provide strong scientific and intellectual support to rural vitalization and the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, Tang added. Enditem
