State Councilor Tang meets Japanese guest

BEIJING, Jan. 12(Xinhuanet)-- Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met here Wednesday with visiting Chairman of Japanese National Public Safety Commission, Murata Yoshitaka.

Tang said that 2005 is the 60th anniversary of the anti-fascistwar and victory of Chinese people against Japanese invasion. He said he hoped that the two countries would make efforts to promotea stable and healthy development of China-Japan relations in a spirit of"taking history as a mirror and looking forward to the future."

The two sides also exchanged views on issues such as cooperation on earthquake prevention and disaster relief in Asia.
