BEIJING, Jan. 25 -- More than 40,000 unclaimed train tickets booked by telephone in Shenzhen last week would be returned to the database for resale, Shenzhen railway officials said.
All tickets reserved by phone must be collected within two days, including the reservation day, officials said. Unwanted reservations must be canceled i
mmediately.
Most of the tickets had not been claimed because many people forgot to cancel their reservations, said officials. They said many people had their friends and relatives make extra reservations to ensure they were able to get tickets. The extra tickets were then not claimed.
Other passengers reserved train tickets with false ID card numbers and were then unable to claim the tickets.
In another development, the railway department decided to add two trains from Shenzhen West Railway Station to Wuchang in Hubei Province from Friday to Feb. 7. Train L808 to Wuchang departs Shenzhen at 1 a.m. and the other L814 at 2:30 a.m.
From Feb. 1 to 7, another two trains, A402 and A404, to Nanchang in Jiangxi Province will also depart from Shenzhen West Railway Station.
Most tickets for trains departing Shenzhen Railway Station before Feb. 1 were sold out, but there are still some available for trains departing from the west station.
The railway department said some stops would be canceled during the Spring Festival. Dongguan on the K8 train from Shenzhen to Hankou in Hubei Province, Qingyuan on train 2270 from Guangzhou to Wuchang, Pingshi on train K212/09 from Ningbo in Zhejiang Province to Guangzhou, Shimen County South and Hanshou on train 2115/6 from Xiangfan in Hubei Province to Guangzhou East Railway Station, Hanshou and Ningxiang on train N713/4 from Changde in Hunan Province to Guangzhou will all be canceled.
