BEIJING, Feb. 7(Xinhuanet)-- The Chinese People's Liberation Army(PLA) has established its Research and Design Center for Environmental Engineering in an effort to make barracks more environment-friendly, according to PLA sources Monday.

In recent years, the Army has paid greater attention to environmental issues as the country is creating greater awareness about environmental protection and be tter use of resources among the public.

The R&D center is expected to help improve environmental protection work of the armed forces, to reach the PLA goal of turning all its barrack into environment-friendly ones, according to PLA sources.
