Leader of a robbery mob nabbed

BEIJING, Feb. 16(Xinhuanet)-- Wang Meng, leader of a gang who robbed a coin trader of 540,000 yuan(about 65,060 US dollars) at gunpoint near West Beijing Railway Station early this month, was arrested and brought to Beijing Wednesday afternoon.

Wang, a native of Qiqihar, a city in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, collaborated with Zhao Deqin, a resident of Anqiu, a city in east China's Shandong Province, and Gong Minghui,also a native of Qiqihar. The men stole the money from the trader surnamed Han by using a gun made by themselves, at 5 p.m. on Feb. 3.

Han quickly reported his case to a patrol police around the railway station. Both Zhao and Gong were detained by patrol policemen and security workers late in the day of the robbery. Thecar used by the robbers, together with the cash inside, were found at 9 p.m. after being deserted near Dongtieying Bridge on the southern third ring road in Beijing.

Wang went into hiding and was caught in Daqing, a city in Heilongjiang Province, on Feb. 12.
