Top legislature ends session; ready for imminent plenary NPC meeting

BEIJING, Feb. 28(Xinhuanet)-- The Standing Committee of the 10th Chinese National People's Congress(NPC), China's top legislature,on Monday concluded a four-day session after making the essential preparations for the imminent plenary NPC meeting.

The lawmakers passed the draft agenda and the draft presidium roster for the plenary meeting of the 10th NPC beginning March 5. The documents still need approval by the preparing meeting of the upcoming plenary meeting.

The meeting passed the non-voting delegate list and the examination report on the qualification of the people who will be elected or by-elected to be NPC deputies. They approved the draft work report of the Standing Committee of the 10th NPC, which will be submitted to the upcoming plenary meeting for deliberation.

The Monday's meeting also passed the Fifth Amendment to the Criminal Law, the decision on expert testimony management and Law on Renewable Energy.

During the session from Feb. 25 to 28, the top legislature deliberated the draft amendment to the Corporation Law for the first time. The draft adds 44 new items, omits 13 items and revises 91 items from the original Corporation Law.

Lawmakers also heard a report on the development of an emergency plan and the country's production safety status submitted by the State Council, or the Chinese cabinet.

The session also passed the motion to approve the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules relating to International Carriage by Air and a convention relating to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
