TIANJIN, March 7(Xinhuanet)-- Wives of foreign diplomats from 15 countries gathered at Tianjin development zone Sunday to celebratethe International Working Women's Day, which falls on March 8.
The foreign guests, including over 30 wives of foreign diplomats and female diplomats to China, joined local families to make dumpling, a traditional Chinese food usually eaten in festivals.
Ros Serey, wife of Cambodian ambassador to China, expressed her enjoyment to learn Chinese traditional culture and make Chinese friends through making dumpling on the big occasion for women.
Serey said she had working for Cambodian women for more than ten years, and would continue to make more efforts.
Tianjin development zone has ratified establishment of 3844 companies with foreign investment from 74 countries and regions bythe end of 2004, with contract foreign capital reaching 20.29 billion US dollars.
More than 200,000 employees work at Tianjin development zone, with female workers accounting for 60 percent."Women make great contribution to the economic growth of the development zone," said Li Yong, local official in charge of management on the development zone.
