BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhuanet) -- The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Saturday vowed it would go on serving the fundamental interest of the Chinese people and take it as the starting point and ultimate aim of its work under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

This is the basic experience drawn from the CPPCC's work and also a major guiding principle for the future work. "We must carry out the principle steadfastly," says a political resolution adopted at the closing meeting of the annual session of the CPPCC National Committee.

The CPPCC shall unite all forces that can be united with and mobilize all positive factors to contribute to the building of a harmonious socialist society, it says.

The resolution describes the just-concluded session to be a "fruitful" one and speaks highly of the achievements made by the CPPCC National Committee and its Standing Committee in strengthening unity, developing democracy, promoting national reunification, foreign affairs and self-improvement over the past year.

All this has laid "a good foundation for the development of thecause of the CPPCC in the new era," it says.
