14 punished in connection with deadly road accident

NANCHANG, April 22(Xinhuanet)-- East China's Jiangxi Province announced on Thursday 14 people had been punished in connection with a deadly road accident that killed 22 and injured 22 in early March.

The punishment ranged from disciplinary penalties and removal from office to administrative detainment, and five people have been taken to court, the provincial government said at a teleconference.

A bus carrying 44 people ran off a narrow mountain road and plunged into a gully in Xingzi County of Jiangxi Province, on March 7. The passengers were from a local insurance company on an outing to Mount Lushan, to celebrate International Women's Day.

The provincial government has ordered all organizations and individuals to draw a lesson and avoid similar mishaps. Enditem
