BEIJING, Apr 23 (AP) -- A gas explosion aboard a Turkish cargo ship at a shipyard in southern China killed one sailor and injured three others, the government said Saturday.

The explosion occurred Friday at the Boluomiao shipyard in the city of Guangzhou, where it had anchored for repairs, the official Xinhua News Agency said, citing police and the shipyard.

Xinhua said the nationalities of those killed and injured weren't released, but said none were Chinese.

The cause of the explosion was under investigation, the report said.
