Buddhism monks kneel down in pray for the holy statue of Guanyin Buddha, Buddhist goddess of mercy¡Aunveiled Sunday during the opening ceremony in China's well-known seaside resort of Sanya, south China's Hainan Province April 24. The statue, erected in Nanshan Buddhism Park of Sanya, stands 108 meters high on the South China Sea with great magnificence. 108 masters and monks from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and mainland China as well as tens of thousands of pilgrims from home and abroad attended the ceremony. The Goddess statue is likely to become a new tourism and religious attraction on the tropical island of Hainan.(Xinhua)
