Internet vocabulary discouraged

BEIJING, April 27-- Internet vocabulary will be discouraged in student compositions in Nanjing, said a teacher and researcher at the annual conference of Nanjing's Working Committee of Spoken and Written Language.

The teacher says it is common to come across popular net terms like PLMM, GG or 886 while reviewing students' compositions.

These abbreviations, which are common to Internet surfers, are not in line with standard Chinese, and will be forbidden in students' compositions, said experts.

While researchers expressed disapproval, many school students have considered it natural to use the Internet terms.
