BEIJING, April 29(Xinhuanet)-- A ceremony was held at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery here Friday to say a final farewell to Fei Xiaotong, a noted Chinese sociologist who died of illness Sunday.
Top leaders Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin and Zeng Qinghong were among a large number of officials attending the ceremony.
The body of Fei Xiaotong was cremated after the funeral service.
Hu Jintao, Jiang Zemin, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Huang Ju, Wu Guanzheng, Li Changchun, Luo Gan and other senior officials visited Fei when he was seriously ill, or expressed comfort in various forms to his family members after hisdeath.
Fei, who was also a well-known anthropologist, passed away in Beijing on Sunday night at the age of 95. He was the prominent leader of the China Democratic League, a democratic party in China, and an intimate friend of the Communist Party of China. He was the vice-chairman of the 7th and 8th National People's Congress Standing Committee, the vice-chairman of the 6th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Standing Committee, and the honorary chairmen of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League.
