BEIJING, June 20(Xinhuanet)-- While most northern residents are feeling the temperature is nearing to the body temperature, south China is fighting against the rainstorms and flood.

China Meteorological Administration Monday issued two weather alarms at the same time: rainstorms in the south and high temperature up to 42 degrees Celsius in the north part on Tuesday.

The temperature ranging from 40 to 42 degrees Celsius on Tuesday will hit the middle part of Shaanxi Province, southwestern part of Shanxi Province, northwestern Henan Province, western Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to the forecast.

And most of the other parts in north China will experience highest temperatures from 35 to 39 degrees Celsius, including the western and eastern Gansu Province, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Beijing, Tianjin, Anhui Province, Henan Province, Hubei Province, Jiangsu Province and the middle and western Shandong Province, according to the forecast.

People in the north should avoid outdoors activities in the high temperature to avoid heat stroke, and extend proper care to the senior, weak, sick and young, said Qiao Lin, a senior engineer with China Meteorological Administration.

While a warm and humid air current would meet with weak cold air current, bringing more rainfall in the flood-prone south China.

From Monday to Tuesday, rainstorms will pelt middle and northern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, middle and northern Guangdong Province, southeastern Hunan Province, southern and middle Jiangxi Province, Fujian Province and southern Zhejiang Province, according to the forecast.

Southern China has been soaked in rain in the past few days after flood season started at the beginning of June, and the impending rainstorms will possibly bring more climate-related disasters, including flood and mud-rock flow, said Qiao Lin.

Many parts in south China had received rainfall more than 150 millimeters in the 24 hours before 8:00 a.m. Monday, including 312 millimeters in Longmen observatory in Guangdong Province, 188 millimeters in Jianning observatory in Fujian Province and 162 millimeters in Guangchang observatory in Jiangxi Province, according to statistics collected by the Administration.

Thundershowers will hit northeastern China from Monday to Tuesday, and some parts will be pelted by rainstorms and hailstones, according to the forecast. Enditem
