School bus overturn injures 15 pupils in Anhui

HEFEI, June 25(Xinhuanet)-- A school bus fell off a river dyke in east China's Anhui Province Friday, injuring at least 15 pupils aboard, a source with a local hospital said Saturday.

The bus, carrying 30 pupils, was speeding on a road in the Pingxu Town of Huainan City in the afternoon, when it slid back all of a sudden, overturned and tipped off the Huaihe river by a dam, a witness said.

Upon hearing the accident, local villagers rushed to the scene and pulled the crying students out of the bus and rushed them to the nearby hospital.

Only one pupil was injured seriously and the 14 others got slight hurt with skin wounds, said doctors at the hospital.

Local traffic police officers said the bus belonged to the Huainan Yiyuan School with a legal operational licenses.

A probe into the cause of the road crash is underway. Enditem
