BEIJING, Aug. 4(Xinhuanet)-- China's culture and information technology authorities have recently issued a circular, requiring online game companies to limit the time spent surfing by minors and prohibiting their access to the game PlayerKill(PK), the Beijing-based Guangming Daily reported.
Players of PK involves killing monsters and fight other players, and most of the games contain violence, the paper quoted officials with the Ministry of Culture as saying.
The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Information Industry jointly issued the circular suggesting players should only get access to PK by using identification cards so as to prevent minors from the games.
The registered capital for any new company hoping to run onlinegames must be 10 million yuan(about 1.2 million US dollars), to raise the threshold of entry and standardize the development of online games, according to the circular.
It says no online games are allowed to be put into operation without first being censored by the Ministry of Culture and following Ministry of Information Technology registration procedures. Enditem
