Top legislator meets Bangladeshi PM

BEIJING, Aug. 19(Xinhuanet)-- Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress(NPC), met here Friday with visiting Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

Wu hailed Sino-Bangladeshi relations over the past three decades and vowed to further promote the two countries' comprehensive partnership.

He said China and Bangladesh are economically complementary and have great potential for trade cooperation. China attaches importance to developing economic and trade relations with Bangladesh and hopes to promote industrial cooperation, he said.

On parliamentary exchanges, Wu said, the NPC would like to make joint effort with the Bangladeshi parliament to push forward the relations between the two countries.

Zia said her visit to China is successful, highlighting the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Bangladesh-China ties and furthering the bilateral cooperation.

She said Bangledash has paid great attention to China's development, and has been committed to long-term friendship and cooperation with China. Enditem
