NANJING, Aug. 19(Xinhuanet)-- The Intermediate People's Court of Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province, Friday sentenced eight chief members, including Zhang Xiaodong, of a cross-border robbery and kidnapping gang to death.
According to the court, the 28-member gang committed a series of violent crimes from February 1999 to January 2004 in Cambodia, including 12 robberies, four kidnappings, one rape and two thefts.
The 12 robberies resulted in th death of seven people, including citizens of China, the Republic of Korea and Cambodia. The gangsters took possession of 6,500 yuan, 25,190 US dollars and 9,000 HK dollars of money as well as automobiles and motorcycles in these crimes.
In the four kidnappings, the gang members killed three hostagesand took possession of 98,000 yuan and 100,600 US dollars of money.
Other members of the gang also received sentences of various terms. Enditem
