SHANGHAI, Sept. 23(Xinhuanet)-- Principals from about 130 world prestigious universities gathered together in China's commercial hub Shanghai on Friday, attending a forum to discuss the relation between"college and city."
The world renowned university principal forum is sponsored by the Shanghai-based Fudan University, as a part of the celebrating activities of its centennial anniversary which falls on Saturday.
With the theme of"interactive development between college and city," the forum will intensively discuss the mutual influences between higher education and city culture, and the relation between colleges and government policy and community construction.
China's colleges will support and contribute to the smooth urban development and modernization of the country and they are shouldering much heavier responsibilities than their foreign counterparts, said Fudan University President Wang Shenghong.
Richard Levin, Principal of Yale University, said it will be a wise action for the government to invest in colleges, adding that it will help boost the colleges development.
The principals are expected to attend the Fudan's centennial celebrating activities on Saturday. Enditem
