Four killed in chemical works blast in N. China

TAIYUAN, Oct. 10(Xinhuanet)-- Four people were killed in an explosion at a chemical works in north China's Shanxi Province Sunday afternoon, local police said.

The blast went off at 2:50 p.m. Sunday in an explosive warehouse of the Jiangyang Chemical(Group) Co. in Shanxi, killing four people. One person was seriously wounded.

The chemical group is a military firm where a similar accident occurred on June 21, injuring about 100 people.

The company has suspended production and workers are clearing off the explosive site. Investigation on the cause of the accidentis still underway, police said. Enditem
