BEIJING, Nov. 28(Xinhuanet)-- A docudrama titled Living Positive was premiered here Monday, as part of publicity activities in China for this year's World AIDS day.
A 21-page discussion guide is also ready for distribution accompanying the premiere show.
According to the World Health Organization(WHO) Beijing office, the Living Positive project is inspired by real stories of people living with HIV/AIDS(PLWHA) in China, and is dedicated to them.
The film features a Chinese HIV-positive named Xiao Mao. He could only talk with a member of a local art therapy workshop for people living with HIV/AIDS, but must also contend with his parent's anger and shame.
"This unique film was made possible thanks to the direct participation and contribution of both HIV positive and negative people in all aspects of the film including acting, writing and general production," WHO said in a press release.
Hopefully it will"help inspire people to learn more about the issue, and help reduce the stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV/AIDS in China," it said.
This 30-minute film and the discussion guide is designed to be used together as a"non-moralistic" education tool to tackle basic facts on HIV/AIDS, and aims to be accessible to both rural and urban populations from all educational backgrounds.
The film and the discussion guide will be distributed as a package to over 400 grassroots groups, schools, international organizations, companies and local healthcare centers by the China HIV/AIDS Information Network(CHAIN).
The project was funded by the Ford Foundation, with additional funding and technical support provided by the AIDS Relief Fund for China, Lafarge, Voluntary Service Overseas, UNESCO, the China HIV/AIDS Information Network, Bayer and the Positive Art Workshop. Enditem
