Hu Jintao asks PLA logistics department to improve work

BEIJING, Jan. 11(Xinhuanet)-- Chinese President Hu Jintao Wednesday asked the logistics units of the People's Liberation Army(PLA) to constantly improve their work and support the army for carrying out its historical mission in the new era.

Hu, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China(CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission(CMC), made the remarks when he met with those attending a PLA logistics work conference held in Beijing.

Hu said China's national defense and military construction have entered a new important development stage. The new situation and tasks have put higher demand on the logistics work.

He asked the logistics staff to step up preparations in logistics for military fight, concretely improve the logistics system and mechanism, cultivate high quality and new-type talents and improve management.

He also called on the logistics staff to rely on science and technology to improve the logistics work.
