Hangzhou citizens reject dear New Year's eve dinners
2006-01-15 22:39:54 CRIENGLISH
BEIJING, Jan. 16-- A restaurant in east China's Hangzhou city is promoting a series of extravagant dinners for the traditional Spring Festival Eve, with the most expensive reaching over 24 thousand US dollars.

The Beijing Youth Daily reports that a survey shows most local people frown on the promotion, calling it just a publicity stunt, although the boss of the restaurant says the dinner is worth the price and he will donate all he earns from it.

Many people worry that the excessively high price of such dinners will encourage the growth of corruption.

At present, the extravagant meal has yet to receive any reservations.Enditem
