Cao briefed his Swiss counterpart Samuel Schmid on China's peaceful development, saying that China's modernization of its armed forces is aimed only at safeguarding national security and territorial integrity.

China's upgrading of its armed forces poses no threat to any country, said Cao.

Cao also exchanged views with Schmid on China-Swiss relations, noting that China is ready to work with Switzerland to push forward the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.
