BEIJING, March 16(Xinhuanet)-- Pet dogs and cats in Beijing will receive implants that will store their owners' names and address so lost animals can be returned to their owners, a source with the municipal pets association said on Thursday.

The Association of Pets Raising, which was also established Thursday, will make implant chips into pet dogs and cats a top priority, said Lin Wei, a member of the organization under the Beijing Animal Agriculture Association.

"When a lost pet is found animal workers can find their owners by retrieving the information from the chip," he said.

Beijing has about one million stray cats, according to Lin. Enditem
