Defense minister leaves for 5 Asian-nation tour

BEIJING, April 4(Xinhua)-- Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan left here Tuesday for a tour to five Asian countries.

Cao, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, is to pay an official and friendly visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK), Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and the Republic of Korea(ROK) at the invitation of KimIl Chol, minister of DPRK People's Armed Forces, Pham Van Tra, Vietnamese defense minister, Najib Tun Razak, Malaysia deputy prime minister and defense minister, Teo Chee Hean, Singaporean defense minister, and Yoon Kwang-ung, ROK defense minister.
