BEIJING, April 4(Xinhua)-- The senior security officials of China and the United States have agreed to step up law enforcement cooperation including joint efforts in the campaign against illegal immigration. Zhou Yongkang, Chinese Minister of Public Security, said in talks with visiting U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff here Tuesday that law enforcement cooperation is an important part of the bilateral relations. "The two sides have made substantial progress in cooperation on extradition, criminal investigation, fighting terrorism, the campaign against illegal immigration and law enforcement training," Zhou said. Zhou called for further cooperation and constructive relations for social stability and security. Chertoff said the U.S. values cooperation with China in law enforcement, vowing the U.S. side would join with China to consolidate mutual trust and coordination, and further cooperation on investigation, the campaign against illegal immigration, intelligence and information exchanges, and law enforcement training.
