10 killed, 8 injured in traffic accidents in Shaanxi

XI'AN, May 6(Xinhua)-- Two fatal traffic accidents in northwest China's Shaanxi Province over the past few days killed 10 people and injured eight others, the provincial public security department said on Saturday.

In one accident, occurred on Thursday, a cross-county jeep carrying seven people suddenly broke guardrail and fell off a bridge in Tongchuan County, killing six passengers and injuring the other.

In another development, a jeep with 11 people fell into a deep ravine in Ansai County at 10:00 a.m. Friday, killing four people on the spot and injuring seven others.

The cause of the two accidents is under investigation. Local police warned people against danger while driving out for holiday activities. Enditem
