Road accidents kill 44 during May Day holiday

BEIJING, May 8(Xinhua)-- Road accidents killed 44 people and injured 16 others in China during the seven-day May Day holiday, down 20 percent and 65.2 percent respectively from last year.

The information was released by the Administration of Communications under the Ministry of Public Security on Sunday night.

An official with the Administration of Communications said traffic order was fine at the country's major tourism destinations and major roads during the holiday. And there were no severe traffic jams on highways and major roads linking provinces. Enditem
