Ammonia leak at chemical plant kills one, sickens 69

BEIJING, May 31 (AP) -- A tank of liquid ammonia burst and spilled six tons of the chemical at a Chinese fertilizer factory on Wednesday, killing one person and sickening 69 others, a news report said.

The accident occurred in the northern city of Qinji in Hebei province, the official China News Service reported. It said 20 of those injured were in serious condition.

The report didn't give any indication of the cause of the leak.
