HEFEI, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Police have cracked a ring involving at least 26 people, which they allege has been a major dealer in counterfeit pharmaceuticals in Fuyang City, east China's Anhui Province. In a joint operation with the city's food and drug administration, police arrested 17 alleged members of the ring and seized 339 items of counterfeit drugs worth more than three million yuan (370,000 U.S. dollars). The drugs, including some made of domestically-produced raw materials but bearing foreign brand names, were discovered on sale at an underground store. The drugs were said to have been disguised as clothing and toy packages before being transported from Guangdong and Henan provinces late last year. Police are still seeking nine other suspected members of the ring, said a spokesman for Fuyang Public Security Bureau. Eight of those arrested have been charged. Enditem
