2006-08-09 18:37:35 Xinhua English

BEIJING, Aug. 10 -- The Ministry of Public Security and China Central TV (CCTV) jointly launched a contest "My Favourite Policemen" on July 12.

Sixty officers from 107 original candidates from 31 municipalities, provinces and autonomous regions are in the final.

They include front-line detectives, traffic policemen, drug rehabilitators, coroners and community security officers. Only four of them are female.

The final winners will be decided upon votes from the public, with voting coming to a close on August 25.

It is the second time the competition has been run.
