BEIJING, Aug 11 (AP) -- A fire broke out on Shanghai's magnetic-levitation train on Friday as the train headed to the city's main international airport, an official said. No one was reported injured.

Passengers were evacuated from the high-speed train shortly after the fire started in the second car and the flames were quickly put out by firefighters, said a duty officer with the Shanghai Fire Brigade Bureau who refused to give his name.

He said he didn't know what caused the fire and had no other details.

The Shanghai system, which links the Pudong International Airport with the city's financial district, covers 30 kilometers (19 miles) at up to 430 kph (270 mph). It is the world's only commercially operating maglev train.
