HAMBURG, Germany, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived here on Wednesday for a short working visit to Germany.

During the one-day visit, Wen will meet German President Horst Koehler and Chancellor Angela Merkel. He will also attend the second meeting of the China-European Union (EU) Forum.

Upon arrival at the Hamburg airport, Wen said in a written statement that he would discuss with Merkel about bilateral relations and other issues of common concern.

He said he strongly believed that his visit would enhance mutual trust, deepen consensus, and push forward the development of the partnership between China and Germany.

According to Chinese diplomatic sources, a series of agreements on bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, chemical industry and environmental protection will be signed during Wen's visit.

Germany is the third leg of his four-nation tour, which has already taken him to Finland and Britain. This is Wen's second visit to Germany as Chinese Premier.

Wen will leave Berlin and head for Tajikistan on Thursday, where he will attend the fifth meeting of heads of government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Enditem
