6 killed, 6 injured in Shaanxi traffic accident

XI'AN, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and six more injured in a traffic accident in northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Thursday, local traffic police confirmed on Friday.

The accident occurred at about 5 a.m. in Shaping village, Hengshan county when a truck loaded with over 20 ton cobblestones overturned after it backed aside a narrow country road to let pass a coming car.

The fallen cobblestones buried some of the 12 workers who were unloading the stones. Two died on the spot and another four died later in hospital.

Two more workers were still receiving medical treatment in hospital, while the rest four suffered slight injuries, local traffic police said. Enditem
