BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Paulias Matane, Governor General of the Papua New Guinea, concluded a six-day working visit to China and left Beijing on Sunday.

During the visit, Hu Jintao, Chinese President, and Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with Matane in the Chinese capital. They agreed to work together to further long-term, stable relations between the two countries.

Matane also reaffirmed that the Pacific island country's government will firmly adhere to the one-China policy.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Papua New Guinea ties and Papua New Guinea has become China's largest trading partner among the Pacific islands countries.

Matane arrived in Chinese economic hub Shanghai on Oct. 10 to start the visit as guest of Hu. He also visited Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu Province. Enditem
