BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua)-- The People's Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China, is to publish an editorial on Tuesday, urging Chinese officials to raise their level of awareness of issues affecting China's economic development.

China has made great achievements since it began the reform and opening up drive, however, there is still a long way to go to realize modernization, said the editorial.

Therefore, officials at all levels should be aware of the pressures and challenges ahead, the conflicts and problems that occur during economic and social development and the risks and difficulties along the road of progress, said the editorial.
