NANCHANG, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Four children and two women were confirmed among the seven dead in Monday's market fire in east China's Jiangxi Province, a local government spokesman said Tuesday.

The seventh body had yet to be identified, he said.

The identified victims were the owners of two shops at the market in Xingguo County, Jiangxi province, and their relatives.

They suffocated in the blaze, which left three other people injured, including two young firemen.

The local government would cover the funeral costs, the spokesman said.

Three houses were destroyed in the fire, which broke out at about 5:00 a.m. and was extinguished at 6:50 a.m.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
