Coalmine blast traps 33 in central China

ZHENGZHOU, April 17 (Xinhua) -- A mine blast in China's most populous province of Henan has trapped 33 miners, the local government reports.

The blast occurred at 7:40 p.m. on Monday at the Wangzhuang Mine in Zhouzhuang town, Baofeng county, central China, when 42 people were working in the mine.

Nine miners managed to escape, local government sources said.
