Moderate earthquake hits eastern Tibet

BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted Tuoba in eastern Tibet Autonomous Region on Monday night, China's Seismological Monitoring Network said.

The epicenter, at 31.5 degrees north latitude and 97.8 degrees east longitude, occurred at 19:59 Beijing time.

No casualties have been reported.
