HOHHOT, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- A forest fire which broke out on Sunday in north China's Inner Mongolia has been contained while another is still raging, according to local fire fighting sources.

A 750-strong team of fire fighters brought the fire in the Kuxi forestry reserve, north of the Greater Hinggan Mountain, under control by midday on Tuesday, said the Inner Mongolia Fire Fighting Office.

However, a new forest fire was detected at 5:30 p.m. on Monday covering an area of 464 hectares in the region of Ergune, west of the blaze that has been tamed, according to the office.

Thick cloud has made it difficult to determine the exact situation, the office said.

Earlier this month, three forest fires broke out in the region.
